Celebration was in the air in honour of the main lady, Nonna, who turned 70. Set in the peaceful countryside of the hunter valley, this extended family of 18 knew it was one of the last family holidays they would ever share for Nonna’s cancer had relapsed.

It was the brainwave and the longing desire of daughter Lorena to have “one last family photo”. It was important to capture this moment while mum was in good spirit. For she knew the journey ahead would be painful as her body would soon embark on a battle till the end.

In a group ranging from 80 to 5 years, it was no surprise that someone let the secret out. However it didn’t take away from the pleasure of Nonna’s extended family shoot. It was decided that Nonno would be told at the very last minute about the photography session as Nonno
would be the most challenged by this due to his dislike of having photos taken!

Back at the house the joy was contagious as the festivities began. Nonna beamed with excitement dressed for the occasion. Her aura of love and gratitude extended beyond the vineyards and touched every heart.

Here are some of the photos from that session.

Just a month short of her 71st birthday, Nonna lost the fight to cancer.
My thoughts and prayers to this beautiful Italian family. RIP Rosa.
