About Me
Hi I’m Gee, Photographer at GG Noir and GG Socials Newcastle.
I love photographing people in black & white, doing what they love, with the people they love.
Time stands still in black & white images.
It’s emotive, expressive and everlasting.
I’m crazy about light, backlight, highlights and natural light.
My favourite black & white images are the ones carefully crafted with natural light (and sometimes studio lights).
If you work with me, either through booking a family or self portrait session, the first thing I’ll do is get you to tell me more about YOU.
So to break the ice, I’ll go first.
I grew up in the South Western suburbs of Sydney but feel at peace living by the sea. I find comfort and joy living in small beachside communities.
I love waking up to a good cup of coffee in the warmth of the sun, it’s invigorating and makes me feel like I can conquer the world.
I’m a yogi mastering inversions, grateful that yoga nourishes my mind and strengthens my body.
I’ve been blessed with a big family (15 when we’re all together). With 6 nieces and nephews and 4 fairy god-children. I am the fairy god mother, big sister, favourite aunt, prodigal child. Either its my inner child or or my size (you’ll see!) that allows me see kids eye to eye.
I am a sea gypsy and love to travel. My pirate name is Gee-gee face
(…as baptized by the famous Jubaface).
Over the last 6 years I have travelled to 26 countries thanks to the super-yacht industry. It’s been an adventure around the globe, meeting people from all walks of life; mainly other fellow pirates, foodies, talented chefs, enchanting locals along with the rich and famous.
Thanks to my Chilean roots, I speak fluent Spanish (with an Aussie accent!) but feel empowered to be able to express myself in a loud, fiery, foreign language.
Consequently, this makes me adventurous and affectionate, so don’t be surprised If I greet you with a hug, kiss or both!
I spent my early days working on dive boats taking underwater photos of tourist visiting the Great Barrier Reef. I still love the freedom and adventure of scuba diving. I take underwater photos now just for fun.
The most thrilling photo shoots have been the ones out of helicopters, with no doors on!
I use to shoot weddings but have since retired from this genre.
Live music and dancing set my soul on fire.… as does a packet of snakes lollies from the Natural Confectionary Co.
Whatever you do, do it with love.
So this is me! I am based in Newcastle (Australia) but will travel just about anywhere worldwide for great clients and locations.
If you are interested in having your family portraits taken by me, you can book here
